Description
Golden, custardy, and irresistibly rich, this Brioche French Toast takes classic breakfast to indulgent brunch levels with thick slices of brioche soaked in velvety custard and crisped to perfection.
Ingredients
4 thick slices of brioche
3 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp vanilla bean
1 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
2 tbsp butter
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, toppings of choice
Instructions
1. In a wide bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth and creamy.
2. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat until bubbling.
3. Dunk each brioche slice for 10–15 seconds per side, allowing it to absorb the custard.
4. Place soaked slices into the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
5. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and your favorite toppings.
Notes
Use slightly stale brioche for best texture.
Customize with fruit, cream cheese, or spices like pumpkin pie blend.
A splash of orange zest or cardamom adds a unique flavor twist.
To keep warm for a brunch spread, store cooked slices in a 200°F oven.
