Description
Golden, buttery garlic knots made from scratch—perfect as a side dish or savory snack. Brushed with garlic-herb butter and optionally topped with parmesan for an irresistible flavor bomb.
Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water (110°F)
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp granulated sugar
3/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil (plus more for brushing)
3 tbsp butter
4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
1/2 tsp dried oregano
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth.
3. Drizzle olive oil over hands and work surface to keep dough from sticking.
4. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
5. Preheat oven to 375°F.
6. Divide dough into 12 portions. Roll each into a rope and tie into a loose knot.
7. Place knots on a lined baking sheet. Brush with olive oil.
8. Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
9. While baking, melt butter with garlic and herbs.
10. Brush garlic butter generously over hot knots.
11. Finish with grated parmesan before serving, if desired.
Notes
Try using bread flour for chewier knots.
For spice, add crushed red pepper flakes.
Great with marinara, pesto, or spicy vodka sauce.
To freeze: cool baked knots, wrap in foil, freeze up to 2 months.
Reheat frozen at 350°F for 15–18 minutes.
