Description
This easy homemade cheese pizza features a golden crust, rich tomato sauce, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for pizza night.
Ingredients
2¼ tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
¾ cup warm water
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 cup crushed tomatoes
1 garlic clove
1 tsp dried oregano
1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Torn basil leaves
Instructions
Mix yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let sit 10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix to form dough.
Knead dough 10 minutes until smooth. Let rise 60 minutes.
Make sauce by simmering tomatoes, garlic, and oregano for 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450°F. Roll out dough on floured surface.
Spread sauce over dough. Add mozzarella on top.
Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
Top with fresh basil and slice to serve.
Notes
Use bread flour for a chewier crust.
Dough can be prepared ahead and frozen for later use.
