Description
A bold and comforting Southern-inspired turkey chili that’s rich in flavor, easy to make, and perfect for weeknights or meal prep.
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) fire-roasted tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp smoked paprika
1 cup chicken broth or water
Optional: frozen corn, green chiles, chipotle paste
Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, pickled onions
Instructions
1. Sauté onion in a tablespoon of oil on medium heat till soft (5 min).
2. Add garlic; stir until fragrant, 1 min.
3. Add ground turkey; brown evenly, breaking it apart.
4. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, and paprika; cook until well mixed and aromatic.
5. Add tomatoes, beans, broth, and bring to a simmer.
6. Reduce heat, cover loosely, and cook 20–25 min.
7. Adjust salt, thickness, and spice before serving.
Notes
Let chili rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to let flavors meld.
For extra depth, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or dark chocolate shavings.
Customize with white beans, added veggies, or make it creamy with coconut milk.
