Description
Air fryer carrots turn humble roots into golden, crisp-tender bites bursting with caramelized flavor—fast, easy, and deeply satisfying.
Ingredients
1 lb carrots (peeled and chopped into ½-inch sticks or coins)
1 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
½ tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
Optional add-ins: smoked paprika, harissa, za’atar, cumin, thyme, balsamic glaze
Instructions
1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
2. Wash, peel, and cut carrots into uniform ½-inch sticks or coins.
3. Toss carrots with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any extras like maple syrup or spices.
4. Spread evenly in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
5. Cook for 8–9 minutes, shake the basket, then cook another 7–9 minutes until golden and crisp on the edges.
6. Taste and adjust seasoning. Optionally garnish with flaky salt, herbs, or cheese.
Notes
For caramelization, add sweeteners like maple syrup near the end of cook time.
Avoid overcrowding for best texture—work in batches if needed.
Cut carrots evenly to ensure consistent doneness.
Experiment with global twists like za’atar + tahini, gochujang + sesame oil, or basil + lemon + Pecorino.
