A simplified take on traditional cabbage rolls, this casserole is comforting, rich in flavor, and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
1 large head of cabbage
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
500g ground beef
1 cup cooked rice
2 cups tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Chop the cabbage into wedges or slice for casseroles.
Roast cabbage wedges with olive oil, paprika, and garlic in the oven for 25 minutes.
Brown ground beef in a skillet and mix with rice and tomato sauce.
In a baking dish, layer the cabbage with beef mixture and top with remaining sauce.
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Notes
Replace ground beef with lentils for a vegetarian option.
Serve with fresh herbs for added garnish.
