Description
A rich and creamy Southern-style caramel pie made from sweetened condensed milk, butter, and brown sugar, set in a graham cracker crust and topped with whipped cream.
Ingredients
2 cans (14 oz each) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup light or dark brown sugar
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla (alcohol-free)
1 pre-baked 9-inch graham cracker crust
Whipped topping (optional)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine condensed milk, sugar, butter, and cornstarch.
Stir constantly until thickened, about 10–12 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
Pour into crust and let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Top with whipped cream before serving.
Notes
Use a non-dairy whipped topping to keep it dairy-free.
For a thicker crust, add an extra 1/4 cup graham crumbs.
Wrapping individual slices helps in freezing.
