Description
Soft and fluffy baked cinnamon donuts, coated in spiced sugar and perfect for fall mornings or anytime treats. These donuts skip deep frying and come together in under 45 minutes.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup whole or coconut milk
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tablespoons melted butter or substitute
1 teaspoon non-alcoholic vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar (coating)
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (coating)
3 tablespoons melted butter (optional for coating)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a donut pan.
Whisk dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Whisk eggs, milk, applesauce, butter, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
Combine wet and dry ingredients. Mix until integrated.
Pipe or spoon batter into donut pan (fill 2/3 full).
Bake for 12–14 minutes until lightly golden.
Cool on rack 10 minutes before coating.
Brush donuts with melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar coating.
Notes
Use silicone pans for even baking.
Skip coating before freezing; add after reheating.
