Ingredients
3 cups crumbled cornbread
2 cups stale white bread cubes
1 cup diced celery
1 cup chopped onion
1 tbsp dried sage
1 tsp black pepper
2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
2 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and celery until soft (about 7–8 minutes).
3. In a large bowl, combine cornbread, bread cubes, veggies, sage, salt, and pepper.
4. Add broth and stir gently, then mix in the beaten eggs.
5. Transfer mixture to the baking dish and lightly press down.
6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Use day-old cornbread for best texture.
Substitute fennel for celery or shallots for onion for a flavor twist.
Vegetarian? Use mushroom broth.
