Description
Soft and delicious sugar cookies made with basic pantry staples, perfect for beginners or family baking days.
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add in the egg and vanilla. Beat until combined.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet until dough forms.
For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes.
Scoop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges just begin to brown.
Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough helps prevent spreading.
Add lemon or almond extract for a flavor twist.
