Ingredients
1 ½ lbs fresh green beans (trimmed)
2 cups cremini mushrooms (sliced)
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups whole milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire
1 ½ cups crispy fried onions
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Blanch green beans in salted water for 5 minutes, then transfer to ice water.
2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until browned (6–7 minutes). Add garlic powder and flour to form a roux.
3. Slowly whisk in milk, reduce heat, and stir until thick. Add soy sauce or Worcestershire, season with salt and pepper.
4. Toss green beans in the sauce and stir to coat.
5. Transfer to a baking dish, top with crispy onions or breadcrumbs.
6. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes or until bubbling. Broil 3 minutes for extra crispness.

Use frozen green beans if fresh ones aren’t available.
