Description
A nostalgic citrusy dessert inspired by the classic orange creamsicle, perfect for potlucks, parties, or Sunday dinners. Bright, zesty, creamy, and easy to make from scratch.
Ingredients
1 box white or vanilla cake mix
1 cup orange soda (or orange juice)
3 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 box orange gelatin mix (3 oz)
1 tsp vanilla bean
1 tub whipped topping (8 oz)
1 cup vanilla pudding or cream cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13″ baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, orange gelatin, eggs, oil, and orange soda. Mix until smooth.
3. Pour batter into the baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
4. Let the cake cool completely.
5. In a medium bowl, mix whipped topping with cream cheese or pudding until creamy.
6. Frost the cooled cake evenly.
7. Optional: Garnish with orange zest or slices.
8. Chill before serving or serve immediately.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute oil with Greek yogurt.
Enhance with a swirl of raspberry coulis or top with coconut whipped cream.
Can be made ahead and frozen (unfrosted) up to 3 months.
