Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup natural cane sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Zest of 2 large oranges
1/2 cup chilled plant-based butter, cubed
2/3 cup oat milk
1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
1/2 teaspoon non-alcoholic orange extract
1 cup organic powdered sugar (glaze)
2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed orange juice (glaze)
Extra orange zest
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and sea salt in a large bowl.
Add orange zest and mix.
Cut in the plant-based butter until dough has crumb-like texture.
In a separate bowl, combine oat milk, orange juice, and orange extract.
Mix wet ingredients into dry just until combined.
Form dough into a disc and slice into 8 wedges.
Place wedges on the sheet, brush with oat milk.
Bake 15 minutes or until golden on edges.
Let cool, then prepare glaze by mixing sugar, juice, and zest.
Drizzle glaze over cooled scones.
Notes
Use freshly zested orange for best flavor.
Store glazed scones in an airtight container up to 3 days.
Freeze extra scones before or after glazing.
