Description
This dairy-free tomato pasta sauce is easy, quick, and full of simmered depth. Great with any pasta shape and customizable with herbs or spice.
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small yellow onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried basil
½ tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
1 can (28 oz) peeled tomatoes
1½ tsp sea salt
Fresh basil to garnish
Instructions
Heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add onions and sauté until translucent (4-5 minutes).
Stir in garlic and red pepper; cook 30 seconds.
Add tomatoes, crush with spoon, and stir.
Add dried basil and salt.
Simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Blend for smooth sauce if desired.
Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
Blend for a smooth consistency or leave chunky.
Adjust seasoning based on tomato acidity.
